Petr  Eben (1929 - 2007) is among the best known Czech composers. He grew up in Southern Bohemia learning to play both the piano and the organ and later studied piano and composition at the Prague Academy of Music.  His popularity extends well beyond his native country and his works are frequently performed.<br>
