With the publication of the six and seven-part motets, a revised version of the “Geistliche Chor-Music” is now complete.

As Schütz wrote in his foreword to the collection, all parts to the motets can be performed vocally and/or instrumentally. These motets offer smaller choirs and ensembles new possibilities to perform these works, based on historically-informed performance practice.
The basso continuo realization follows the composer’s intention of using the score merely as a basis for performance, but with its relatively simple realization, it also allows performers to create their own version.
