In addition to his large output of vocal music Melchior Franck (c. 1580–1639) also left behind a number of collections of instrumental dance music. This edition offers an extensive selection of these pieces – some of them highly contrapuntal, others of a folk-like simplicity – written for a wide variety of instrumental combinations. Franck´s pavanes, of which only a few have been individually published until now, are also included, making this volume all the more attractive to devotees of early dance music.
