Mårten Jansson is internationally known, particularly for his masses; the Missa brevis in E-flat minor and the Missa Popularis are regularly performed in concert programmes.

The new Missa Brevis Arosiensis is stylistically connected with these masses. Due to its moderate technical difficulty, manageable length and overall positive mood, it can be tackled even by amateur choirs. The mass was commissioned for the Mariakören, the choir of the Västerås cathedral, Sweden. The title Arosiensis refers to this city.
