This jazz album for pipe organ contains six chorale settings on well-known hymns in common ecumenical use. Their meditative character derives from slow tempos, subdued tonal colours and forms such as ostinato or variation which allow space for contemplation on the hymn texts. These approachable pieces, which are also suitable for performance on smaller instruments, are composed in classic swing-jazz style. They are at the most of medium difficulty and offer opportunities for the performer’s own jazz improvisations.
