Franz Wohlfahrt's (1833–1884) studies remain a very important aid for the development of the basic technique of violin play and thus belong among the favourites of violin teachers. In this edition (revised by Bohumil Kotmel), new fingerings have been adapted and a majority of the studies have been supplemented with recommended practising techniques, aimed at practising specific  technical and intonational problems, leading the student to the full mastery of each study. For the sake of clarity, the selected studies have been divided into two parts, the first part remains in the first position, the second is focused on playing in the first three positions and in double stops.
