Following Slavonic Dances and Legends, during the years 1883-84 Antonin Dvorak wrote another cycle for four-hand piano. This collection of six short genre images, From Sumava, soon became so popular that the composer was required to arrange certain parts for different instruments. In his own arrangement for cello, Silent Woods, in particular, continues to live on, performed in concert as a separate piece. This version for four-hand piano is part of the first Complete Critical Edition of Works by Antonin Dvorak.
