Jan Ladislav Dusík (1760–1812) is an important representative of Czech musical emigration at the turn of the 18th and 19th century in England and France. The third volume of his piano sonatas consists of sonatas Nos. 17–23 of the complete edition. The pieces document the author’s creative progress. The well-known Sonata in E-flat major Op. 44 especially tends towards the monumental concepts and rich dramatic pathos of Dusík’s greatest sonatas. The publication is part of the Musica Antiqua Bohemica series, which contains the complete edition of the composer’s sonatas in several volumes. The extensive Preface and Editor’s Notes are by Jan Racek and V. J. Sýkora.
