Quattro sonate represent typical Baroque violin sonatas composed by the master of this instrument, Frantisek Benda (1709 - 1786), who was a violinist at the court of the Prussian King Frederick the Great.

The volume consists of sonatas in A major, A minor and G major for violin and piano. The violin part of the 4th Sonata in A major is given in two versions. The composer had written out ornaments and so the sonata may serve as an introduction to the Baroque interpretation.
