This crystal-clear composition is almost a textbook example of music from the Classical period, with its characteristic melodic traits. The piano reduction as well as the revision of the solo part was undertaken by well-known clarinetist Jiri Kratochvil. The latter has also indicated a possible (very sensible) abridgement which, should the performer decide to follow this suggestion, will, in fact, enhance the composition. Clarinet Concerto in E flat is not a difficult piece and may be performed by students in their lower years at the Conservatoire. The title is part of the Musica Viva Historica series.
