The combination of flute and guitar is becoming increasingly popular among music school pupils and concert performers. This publication, From the Renaissance to Ragtime, expands the fairly narrow repertoire for this combination of instruments to include arrangements of famous compositions, such as variations on the famous English Renaissance song Greensleeves, famous melodies by Johann Sebastian Bach (Air, Siciliana, Badinerie), the popular Minuet by Luigi Boccherini, Chopin's virtuoso Variations on a Theme of Rossini, and Scott Joplin's popular ragtime tune The Entertainer (familiar from the film The Sting). In order that these relatively demanding arrangements can be enjoyed by a broad spectrum of performers, editor Pavel Kloub selected compositions which can easily be played not only on the flute, but also on the oboe or violin.
