Jirí Gemrot was born in 1957 into a family of Prague musicians.  Following studies at the Prague Conservatoire his composition technique has been crystallising until it has achieved its present personal style.<br>

“Plays for Harpsichord”  was commissioned by the Prague Spring Festival and premiered there in May 2005.  It is intended for both the modern pedal harpsichord as well as for a copy of a historical instrument.<br>
