Relief for solo organ (1964) was written during the composer's peak musical development. In his treatment of four mutually interwoven themes, Fiser uses variation techniques exclusively. Here we will also find a restriction of tonal material, which later culminates in the composer's use of modality.

Relief is the last work of his earlier, tonal stage, before the application of aleatory concepts and the modality mentioned above. Since the autograph of the work remains inaccessible for the time being, surviving as yet unprocessed in the composer's estate, the new edition is published from the authorised copy made by the Czech Music Fund in 1966.
