Like almost all composer-virtuoso players of this time, Carl Stamitz (1745-1801) also, besides duets for his own use, wrote easy duets for amateurs. His Op.27 that was published in 1780 “chez Schott á Mayence” contains six duets of quite particular melodic charm and finely articulated rhythm.

Their limited technical demands make them particularly suitable as an introduction to the Viennese classics for student flautists and violinists and will be welcomed by home music-makers.
