Mendelssohn’s overture, based on  Shakespeare’s comedy of the same name, is a  masterwork amongst concert overtures. With its many programmatic elements, it  became  a favourite with the public straight away.<br>

Bärenreiter’s  new Urtext study score of this popular  work is based on Christopher  Hogwood’s  critical edition of the concert overture (BA 9053), which was published in  2006.<br>
